We're happy to announce that after the pilot year of the Visual Theory and Practice non-degree certificate program, the 2018/19 academic year continues with the Visual Theory and Practice advanced certificate program accredited by the New York State Department of Education and initiated and run by the Visual Studies Platform at CEU.
The advanced certificate program in Visual Theory and Practice (VTP) offers students the core knowledge and the skills to pursue visual research and produce media and visual work related to their own fields of study. Developed and coordinated by the VTP executive committee, it is a cross-disciplinary program giving MA and PhD students the opportunity to engage with visuality and visual methodologies during their studies. This includes access to courses on the theory and practice of working with visual imagery as well as one-on-one supervision on a thesis that centers on the analysis of visual material or the production of a visual project. Additional activities include seminar courses, public lectures, conferences, workshops and public programs organized by faculty, invited guests and artists in residence. Through such activities, students will become familiar with, and engage in, interdisciplinary dialogues on visual imagery across various fields of study.
Join us on September 11, 5.30pm at Nador 15, Room 106 for a presentation on the Visual Theory and Practice advanced certificate and the programs and events organized and offered by the Visual Studies Platform, including workshops, film screenings, lectures and exhibitions. You will be welcomed by the core members of the Visual Studies Platform who will give a brief introduction to the requirements of the advanced certificate and the courses. You will also have the chance to see two short films made by CEU students last year as part of VTP courses.
